Amazing web animation without Flash
On March 9 Artlogic launched spritely.net, inviting web developers to 'sprite up the web'.
Spritely.net is a site designed for developers to showcase Artlogic's exciting new jQuery methods for creating dynamic character and background animation on the web. Spritely uses pure HTML and JavaScript which is exciting for developers as it means it does not require the Flash plugin to animate web pages. And it works (with touch-screen interactivity) on iPhone, iPod Touch and with iPad.
We were anticipating it would be popular, but we didn't expect the extraordinary speed of the buzz that followed: within a few hours, news about Spritely was all over the internet and spritely.net received over 20,000 visitors in the first three days.
Spritely has caught the imagination of the development community and is now featured in tweets and blogs throughout the world.
We're immensely proud of Spritely - of the site, and of what the technology offers - and thrilled that it is proving to be so popular.
If you would like us to 'sprite up' your website, please contact us. And if you're a developer and want to sprite up the web yourself, be sure to visit http://spritely.net/ to find out how effective and easy it is to do.
