Our latest website, Bookbite is continuing to attract a lot of attention. Following widespread broadcast and print coverage on launch day, the tremendous response to the website can be measured by the media's reaction (see below) and by the numbers of website users themselves.
Behind all this was a brilliant PR campaign orchestrated by Booktrust. To date (the site was launched two days ago at the time of writing) Bookbite has been featured on BBC Breakfast television, Chris Evans' programme on Radio 2, Radio 4 (Today and PM), Radio 5 Live, the World Service and many regional stations. It has appeared in many regional newspapers and featured by Reuters around the world. It has also appeared on many websites connected with the internet and adult education.
The site has managed to strike a chord with the 'silver surfers' that the campaign is hoping to attract. Entries are flooding in for the writing competitions, while the discussion forum is becoming a real community - and enjoying some lively debates!
The site is hugely accessible and also uses our latest CMS, which is built entirely on an open source platform.
